In 1943, Pabst Brewery held a contest open to all the employees to name the Pabst Guest Center. With his entry of "Blue Ribbon Hall", Joseph Heinzelmann won the First Prize of $50 and was honored at a ceremony which included Milwaukee Mayor Frank Zeidler and Fred Pabst, Chairman of the Board.
Inspired by that history, we are holding a contest open to the public to name our new hall. Recently used as the Best Place gift shop, the hall originally served as the reception/waiting room for the Pabst Brewery. Built in 1934, this room was part of a group of buildings collectively known as the Sternewirt, a German term for a brewery's hospitality center.
The winning entry will become the permanent name of the hall and part of an iconic landmark and receive $50, as Joseph Heinzelmann did in 1943. The winner will also receive a free rental of the newly-named hall (subject to availability).
The winner will be determined by a panel of judges from Best Place and may include select guests. In the event of a tie, the winning entry will be randomly selected. Limit one entry per contestant. Winner does not have to be present to win. Employees of Best Place and members of their immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, or children) and/or households are ineligible to participate or win.
We look forward to your submissions! Prost!
