Pabst Brewery has come home and, to celebrate, the company will kick off the summer music season with a grand opening street festival. The brewery will host the festival on Juneau Avenue between 10th St. and 11th St., and the adjoining area of 11th St., and will feature outdoor performances from a variety of leading local bands.
The daylong party includes Ish DARR, Riverwest hip-hop group New Age Narcissism - NAN, featuring Lex Allen, Siren and Lorde Freddee, as well as Wisconsin native Hugh Masterson of Hugh Bob & The Hustle, Madison-based pop punk band MASKED INTRUDER, alternative soul rocker Abby Jeanne and 12-piece funk group D'Amato.
Visitors can take in "Live Paintings" from visual artists in a Pabst Open-Air Art Gallery, presented by Canvas, and also get onsite commemorative swag, as local designers will offer one-time-only Pabst Milwaukee Brewery T-shirts. Local designers Milwaukeehome, MODA3, Orchard Street Press and Wiskullsin will contribute threads, with the printing efforts done by Redwall Screen Printing.
Along with all of the above you can partake in games, activities and food that will also be offered, along with Pabst Milwaukee Brewery beer. Admission is free and is family friendly – though beer drinkers will, of course, have to be 21 to partake.
Back To The '80s Night: Benefit for WALK MS-Team Bruised Apple
May 5 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm
"Dear Mr Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Friday night to get our 80s on!" (The Breakfast Club movie). It's been WAY too long, but the semi-legenday Scottish DJ 80's night is BACK. Back like pegged jeans, back. Back like the Cold War, back.
This time though, we hope to also raise some fundage to go towards helping Cat, one of my past brides, kick Multiple Sclerosis' butt! Admission is only $5 each at the door, and proceeds will go towards Cat hitting her Walk MS Fundraising goals.
There will be snacks, 80s movie trailers, a full bar at one of Milwaukee's best venues (excuse the pun!), raffles, and maybe even a little belly dancing interlude, cos, you know, nobody else has an 80's night like that! So, dust off your scrunchies, pull out that pastel shirt and feather that hair. Last time was legendary!
